CLINIC COORDINATOR (CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN)

Duties:The Clinic Coordinator’s duties include Veterinary Technician duties of surgery, radiology, and laboratory. Lab duties will include use of common lab equipment, fecal and urine samples. Surgery duties include: preparation, monitoring and recovery. Exam room assistant duties include health assessments, blood draws, and assisting doctors.

In addition, the Clinic Coordinator will perform the following duties of the department to include but not limited to:
  • Order all medical and office supplies for the hospital
  • Maintain inventory and budget documentation
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures for tasks pertinent to the hospital
  • Organize, order and maintain all equipment and supplies related to microscopy
  • Organize, order and maintain all equipment and supplies related to the Abaxis blood chemistry machine
  • Organize, order and maintain all equipment and supplies related to the surgical area
  • Assist with hiring new veterinary assistants/technicians
  • Train new veterinary assistants/technicians
  • Assist the Director, Clinic Operations with the facilitation of medical staff meetings and ensure that minutes are produced
  • Maintain the medical library
  • Maintain the controlled substance log
  • Strive for the hospital to meet regulations of USDA/OSHA/DEA/health department etc.
  • Report to the Director, Clinic Operations on staff, budget, and animal issues
  • Fill in for Director, Clinic Operations, or attend with Director, Clinic Operations; relevant meetings, orientation, etc.
  • Acts as a liaison to other departments and attend their meetings as necessary.
  • Schedule veterinary technician/assistant shifts (monthly).
Requirements
  • Certified Technician, experience with avian/exotic/wildlife species, preferably in the state of Florida
  • Leadership skills with willingness to improve
  • Experience in management, or willingness to learn necessary skills
  • Stays up to date on current techniques and fulfills CE requirements
Salary range: $33,900-$38,000. Entry point dependent on experience
